I own the franchise for Australian Mortgage Brokers in Brisbane Inner South & have more than 30 years experience working in the finance industry, eight of these as a Mortgage Broker, but also holding senior training and development positions with both Westpac and Suncorp. This means that I understand lenders policy and processes extremely well so that my clients are matched with a lender who meets their needs.
I am an Accredited Mortgage Consultant and member of the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia (MFAA). Members of the MFAA must adhere to an industry Code of Practice which requires professionalism, ethical behavior, transparency and a commitment to you, the borrower. I also hold a Certificate IV in Mortgage Broking, together with a Bachelor of Commerce.
I am a member of the Credit Ombudsman Services Limited (COSL), an independent dispute resolution service, and I also maintain Professional Indemnity Insurance.
Due to my training and development background I have a strong commitment to continuing my professional development by subscribing to industry relevant publications, participating in regular meetings with lender representatives discussing new loan products and procedures, upgrading my qualifications to Diploma lending and attending regular Professional Development Days.
I meet with you at your home or office to discuss your unique situation and determine your financial objectives in relation to borrowing money and to help you choose from over 200 products from many of Australia’s best known banks, building societies and non-bank lenders. Why approach a bank directly and limit your options to their standard suite of in-house loans? Who says they have the best deal for you anyway? I maintain relationships with more than 20 lenders and have details of all their loan products at my fingertips so I can compare them in an instant and find the most suitable loan to suit your circumstances. Can you imagine how long it would take you to do that yourself?
Part of the process is to explain your options to allow you to decide what you wish to do. If that means you decide not to proceed with a loan application, that is fine . I don’t charge a fee to come and meet with you and not only do I save you a lot of your precious time, I do it at no extra cost to you because I am paid by the Lender you choose to finance with and it doesn’t cost you any more than if you approached them directly.
I will also save you more time and headaches by completing all the loan paperwork, liaising with your Real Estate Agent and Solicitor as appropriate, and working with you to resolve any queries or problems that may occur along the way. I will maintain ongoing contact with you throughout the loan application process to ensure you are kept fully informed every step of the way. If you don’t have a solicitor then I have a number of professionals that I can recommend to you. I will also suggest steps that you should take to help protect your property once the purchase is complete and this may involve meeting with your financial planner, or again, if you don’t have one will put you in touch with a professional that can assist.
I also access Australian Property Monitors which allows me to provide my clients with up to date price information regarding any property they may currently own, but also a property they may be looking to purchase. This provides my clients with real negotiating power.
I understand that the home buying process at times can be stressful, and one of the best ways to deal with this stress is to understand the process and what is happening at each step. Accordingly I spend as much time as required educating my clients and helping them to understand the key issues that may surround their application and how the lender will be dealing with those.
